Privacy Policy of the Technology Center
Updated: June 10, 2003
Welcome! The Technology Center recognizes
the importance of customer privacy and the need to protect
information that users of the company.com Web site provide
to us. This Privacy Policy explains our data collection
practices and use for our online operations. Please read
our complete Privacy Policy. The Technology Center will
occasionally update this Privacy Policy. When we do, we
will also revise the "last updated" date at the
top of this Privacy Policy. This Privacy Policy is part
of, and governed by, the Technology Center Terms and Service
of Web Site Use and this Privacy Policy is incorporated
therein.
Request for Customer Data
The Technology Center requires customers to fill out a registration
form prior to allowing you to make purchases through the
company.com Web site. We ask for information such as your
name, company address, work phone number, and email address.
When you submit your registration form, this information
travels via the Internet and is stored for future reference
when you return to shop again.
Web Server Cookies and Log Files
The Technology Center uses cookies to identify different
types of Web site users. A cookie is a small piece of information
that is sent by our Web server, stored on your PC's hard
drive, and used by your Web browser. The Technology Center
uses cookies to identify the type of customer using the
Web site. If you disable cookies you may not be able to
use the The Technology Center Web site.
Like most standard Web site servers we use
log files. This includes internet protocol (IP) addresses,
browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit
pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks
to analyze trends, administer the site, track user's movement
in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information
for aggregate use. IP addresses etc. are tied to personally
identifiable information to enable our Web based service.
Customer Data Protection
The Technology Center may reveal customer data to third
parties including third party affiliates, software publishers,
our sales representatives and business partners that may
require information to invoice for a service or to properly
register a software license to its purchaser. Additionally,
we use an affiliate and/or an outside shipping company to
ship orders, and a credit card processing company to bill
users for goods and services. These companies do not retain,
share, store or use personally identifiable information
for any secondary purpose.
We use customer data for these primary purposes:
- To help you quickly find software, services,
or information
- To help us create Web site content most
relevant to you
- To alert you to product upgrades, special
offers, updated information, and other new services from
The Technology Center
- To ensure accurate information is provided
to software providers for licensing purposes
- To complete purchases the Technology
Center will disclose your personal information, without
notice, if required to do so by law or in the good faith
belief that such action is necessary to (a) conform to
the ethics of the law or comply with legal process served
on the Technology Center on the site; (b) protect and
defend the rights or property of The Technology Center,
or (c) act in urgent circumstances to protect the personal
safety of users of company.com or the public.
As we continue to develop our business,
we might sell or buy stores or assets. In such transactions,
customer information generally is one of the transferred
business assets. Also, in the unlikely event that the Technology
Center or substantially all of its assets are acquired,
customer information will of course be one of the transferred
assets.
The Technology Center also reserves the
right to share customer information with our corporate office
or any current of future subsidiaries of the corporation.
Children's Privacy (Under the Age of
13)
The Technology Center takes children's privacy seriously.
We do not seek to collect personal information about children
through our Web site. If we become aware that a person submitting
personal information to us through any part of our Web site
is a child, we delete the information as soon as we discover
it and do not use it for any purpose, nor do we disclose
it to third parties. Since we do not seek to collect any
personal information about children, and we delete information
collected inadvertently as soon as we discover that a child
has submitted it, we typically retain no information about
children that could be reviewed or deleted. If a parent
requests review or deletion of information about their child
before we have discovered and deleted the information, then
we will of course honor that request.
Email Policy
The Technology Center periodically uses email to send newsletters,
notify customers of current promotions, and to send updates
about services and products we're offering. We use the email
addresses you provide during registration or otherwise for
these purposes. Customers and Web site users can indicate
whether or not they wish to receive email messages from
us. If you do not wish to receive information regarding
the Technology Center's products, services, and promotions,
let us know and we'll discontinue sending you email marketing
messages. You will continue to receive order confirmation
email and other correspondence that relates to quotes or
orders you have placed with The Technology Center.
